This is the team that will be going to Gold Coast in November (including Donna Walker and Lisa McAllister). The team will be flying out on 15th November for a friendly competition with the Queensland Deaf 8 Ball Pool teams. The competitions run from 20th until 24th November. We will be competing with Aussie Deaf teams. We will be training before we start the competition because we will be playing under Australian rules, it will be interesting to see the differences. The central Deaf 8 Ball team will going but the Southern Deaf 8 Ball team can’t make it.

Snowsports Club: November 08

Ten guesses as to who this amazing skier is...!
We organised to watch “Big Screen Rugby” (the All Blacks playing against Australia) in the evening at ADS (2nd August). We opened the canteen and cooked hot roast pork with roast potatoes and other hot vegetables. We were fundraising for the Deaf Snowsports Club. Susan did an excellent job of preparing for the meal. Big thanks to Sonia Pivac and Daniel Harborne for their fantastic help in the busy kitchen. One person said “we cooked like crazy; busy like the TV programme; “The F word”! There were over 46 people who attended and enjoyed watching the game on the big screen. The evening was successful and it was worth working hard. There were lots of dishes in the kitchen! It was an absolutely fantastic evening. (Written by Judy Everitt)

Senior Citizen's trip to Rotorua

Warm Smiles and hand waves to everyone. The Auckland Deaf Senior Citizens Group would like to share with you the fun we all had on our overnight trip to Rotorua. But before I go any further, the Senior Citizens Group would like to express a sincere thank you to Auckland Deaf Society for their generous donation of $200.00. This was most appreciated and went towards paying for the student interpreter’s travel and accommodation expenses. Thank you.We would also like to express our thanks to the two students who volunteered their free time to interpret for us. It was a great learning opportunity for both parties and the students did a superb job. Thank you Rebecca and Helen.
